The National Technical Textiles Mission compendium is unveiled by Shri Giriraj Singh
Ministry of Textiles and FICCI organise International Conference on ‘Viksit Bharat- Technical Textiles for Sustainable Growth & Development
The Union Minister declared that the government has launched the National Technical Textiles Mission and the PLI Scheme for MMF Fabric, Apparel, and Technical Textiles, among other initiatives, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to the growth of India’s technical textiles industry.
The Union Minister outlined the major steps accomplished under the NTTM mission, pointing out that 156 research projects, including the creation of carbon fibers and assistance for new ventures in various technical textile sectors, had been approved. He emphasized that Meditech, particularly hygiene products, has a lot of promise to help reach this goal.
He demonstrated his faith in the capacity of the regional business community, the government, and other relevant parties to produce High-Performance Fibres, which have enormous potential uses in a variety of industries, including construction, automotive, and aerospace. The Union Minister concluded by restating the government’s unwavering support for its goal of being the world’s largest producer and market for technical textiles.
Along with launching the National Technical Textiles Mission Compendium, Shri Singh also gave confirmation certificates to 11 authorized Start-Ups under the NTTM.
Under its flagship initiative, the National Technical Textiles Mission, the Ministry of Textiles, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and the Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA), hosted an international conference at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi, India.
According to Shri Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for Textiles, the country is moving closer to Atmanirbhar in all areas, including technical textiles. He also mentioned that multiple state governments have taken initiatives for promoting investments, including FDI, in the technical textiles industry and urged other states to do the same.
Smt. Rachna Shah, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, emphasized the significance of technology textiles for Viksit Bharat. The Secretary emphasized the significant market potential in technical textiles, stating that the worldwide trade in these products is estimated to be worth $300 billion, and that India’s home market is valued at $25 billion, with $2.6 billion in exports. Speaking on the National Technical Textiles Mission, she stated that the mission places a strong emphasis on interdepartmental cooperation, the introduction of standards, and Quality Control Orders.
Dr. S Somanath emphasized the significance of high-performance fibers and composites in the aerospace industry, as well as the dearth of commercial manufacturing facilities in India that result in a significant reliance on imports. He pushed industry and stakeholders to make significant expenditures in this field, including the creation of sophisticated machinery to meet both domestic and large-scale international demand.
A summary of the policy efforts and support being given under the six NTTM guidelines was given by Shri Rajeev Saxena, Joint Secretary and Mission Coordinator of the NTTM. The issuance of Quality Control Orders for 57 technical textile goods, including QCOs on fire retardant furniture fabrics, and the addition of 37 new HSN Codes to the technical textiles category were among the advancements accomplished thus far in the objective, which he also discussed.
Shri Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for Textiles; Ms. Rachna Shah, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles; and Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman, ISRO and Secretary, Department of Space, attended the conference’s inaugural session. Four panel discussions covering employment, innovation, social effect, and the future of the technical textile sector were held on the first day of the conference. Government officials, business executives, representatives of research institutions, and startup founders participated in the panel discussions.
