At Heimtextil 2025 Devan Chemicals introduces a new sleep

BELGIUM’S RONSE At Heimtextil 2025, Devan, a world pioneer in environmentally friendly textile treatments, unveiled “Devan Sleep Tight,” a cutting-edge sleep-promoting device. This technology has been shown in an independent clinical investigation to improve overall quality of life and sleep quality.

Motivated by the worldwide “Beauty Sleep” movement, Devan presents its most recent sleep health invention. An upcycled by-product of Australian tea tree oil serves as the active element. This active ingredient acts by two complementary pathways, inhalation and skin contact, to improve nighttime benefits and skin regeneration to provide a healthier looking skin and revitalized look by morning.

This innovative approach, which is intended for usage in textiles like bedding and sleepwear, intends to turn nocturnal rest into a restorative ritual, fully satisfying the demand for comprehensive self-care among modern customers. The technology decreases the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), increases the action of melatonin, and promotes the synthesis of protein and antioxidant genes, and it promotes the expression of the collagen gene.

+97% microcapsules made of biomaterials

The foundation of the Devan Sleep Tight technology is microencapsulation. The active components are first placed within capsules. The cloth is then treated with the biobased microcapsules. The treated textiles touch our skin and the capsules break due to friction between the body and the textile.

The content of the biobased capsules is then released and absorbed by the skin, while the volatile components of the active ingredients are simultaneously inhaled. The microcapsules are readily biodegradable (tested according to the OECD 301B guideline). Possible applications are pillows, bed sheets, bed accessories, sleepwear, …

Clinical research

For 30 days, 33 healthy male and female participants with sleep issues, ages 18 to 60, used a pillow cover treated with R-Vital NTL 10015 Sleep Tight every night. Every participant has to complete the Prior to and following 30 days of using the corresponding product, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and a quality of life (QoL) questionnaire were used to assess sleep quality, general well-being, and quality of life. A commonly used, scientifically verified instrument for accurately evaluating and measuring sleep quality is the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).

According to the results, individuals’ quality of life and sleep in a number of important areas significantly improved after wearing a pillow case treated with R-Vital NTL 10015 for 30 days. The most notable improvements were observed in quality of life, decrease of daytime dysfunction, sleep latency, sleep disruptions, and sleep quality.

shown in Frankfurt’s Heimtextil 2025

At Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Devan and a number of its partners showcased their Sleep Tight technology. Notable among them were Crispim Abreu Lda and Lameirinho, two Portuguese companies specializing in bed linen and sleepwear, as well as Naturtex from Hungary, a leading producer of quilts and pillows.

By the second quarter of 2025, the technology will be on the market thanks to the initial manufacturing already under way. These partnerships enable Devan Sleep Tight to provide manufacturers, merchants, and customers with unmatched value.

According to Marleen Van der Auwera, BU Leader of Devan Chemicals’ Health & Wellness Division, “collaboration is at the heart of innovation.” “By collaborating closely with reputable industry leaders, we’re not just introducing a product; we’re developing a solution that raises the bar for textiles that promote sleep.”
