Brussels, 6th March 2025 – EDANA, the voice of the nonwovens industry, is excited to announce the three nominees for the FILTREX™ Innovation Award 2025, celebrating exceptional innovation in the filtration sector. This prestigious award highlights the dedication of manufacturers to advancing nonwoven-based filtration products and components.
The nominees for this year are:
- GESSNER – Lignin-Saturated Cellulose Filter Media
GESSNER’s groundbreaking lignin-saturated cellulose filter media sets a new benchmark in sustainable filtration. This eco-friendly solution replaces fossil-based resins with renewable lignin, reducing the carbon footprint significantly—saving up to 100 kg of crude oil per ton of material. Designed for engine air, oil, and fuel filter elements, it offers outstanding filtration performance and durability while minimizing formaldehyde emissions during curing. This innovation demonstrates that sustainability and high efficiency can go hand-in-hand, offering optional flame retardancy and a clear path towards a greener future. - Hollingsworth & Vose – NanoWave®ESA
Hollingsworth & Vose, a leader in engineered materials, presents NanoWave®ESA, an all-synthetic 3D media designed for high-efficiency respiratory protection. Free of PFAS, this innovative filter media allows for minimal processing while extending filter life. NanoWave®ESA can be produced with a stretch, enabling the creation of highly efficient, breathable, and drapable garments that can be cut to size, ensuring both safety and comfort. - Johns Manville – Evalith®
Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company renowned for its expertise in the filtration industry, introduces Evalith®—an innovative recycling process that transforms post-industrial HVAC bio-soluble glass microfiber filtration media waste into compounded pellets for injection molding. These pellets, containing 30% glass fiber, are utilized to produce durable, second-life products. This sustainable solution not only prevents landfill waste but also reduces CO2 emissions, contributing to a circular economy.
