GATS and Green Story Partner to Make Panipat a Sustainable

Panipat, Haryana – 12 February 2025: The Global Alliance for Textiles Sustainability Council (GATS), a non-profit organization committed to promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship in the global textiles and fashion industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Story. This partnership aims to assess and showcase the carbon footprint of the Panipat Textiles Cluster, reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable textile production.

Through this collaboration, GATS and Green Story will present a strong business and environmental case to brands and organizations worldwide, emphasizing Panipat’s achievements in textile recycling, circularity, and decarbonization. The initiative aims to enhance Panipat’s global recognition, attracting partnerships and investments aligned with circular economy principles.


Panipat: A Leader in Sustainable Textiles

The Panipat Textiles Cluster is renowned for its expertise in textile recycling and circularity. This MoU will enable a systematic measurement of the cluster’s carbon footprint, providing transparent data on its environmental impact and sustainability practices. By leveraging Green Story’s skills in sustainability analytics, the partnership will equip brands, investors, and policymakers with actionable insights to drive positive change in the textile supply chain.


Live Demonstration at Bharat Tex 2025

As a Proof of Concept (PoC), Green Story, in collaboration with Recyclr (a GATS-affiliated company), will present the Digital Product Passport (DPP) for a pair of jeans made from recycled content at Bharat Tex 2025. This denim is crafted using mechanically recycled fibers from post-industrial waste, adhering to industry-leading sustainable practices:

  • Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD): Ensures all wastewater is filtered and reused, eliminating environmental discharge.
  • Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC): Guarantees that no hazardous chemicals are used throughout the supply chain.
