GREW Solar Partners with Caelux for 4 GW Hybrid-Tandem Modules

GREW Solar and Caelux have entered a five-year, 4 GW commercialization partnership to produce advanced Hybrid-Tandem™ solar modules using Caelux’s Energy Producing Glass.


GREW Solar and Caelux Corporation (Caelux), a global perovskite solar technology company, have announced a five-year commercialisation partnership covering up to 4 GW of Caelux’s Energy Producing Glass. The agreement will support production of high-power Hybrid-Tandem™ solar modules and expands Caelux’s contracted volume with solar module manufacturers globally to 19 GW.

Combining Perovskite Glass with N-Type TOPCon

Under the partnership, GREW Solar will integrate Caelux’s Energy Producing Glass with its N-Type TOPCon technology to manufacture next-generation Hybrid-Tandem™ solar modules. The programme will include GREW Solar’s large-format G12R series.

The Hybrid-Tandem™ architecture uses two energy-producing layers, with the companies targeting module efficiencies of more than 29%.

“We built GREW on the same philosophy that has guided the Chiripal Group for more than five decades – be at the forefront when it comes to technology innovation,” explained Mr. Vinay Thadani, CEO and Director, GREW Solar. “Partnering with Caelux enables us to provide next-generation, high-power modules to the market using our existing gigawatt-scale manufacturing platform, which is already operating at scale.”

GREW Solar Expands Manufacturing Capacity

GREW Solar has expanded its manufacturing footprint from a single 1.2 GW line in 2023 to a multi-gigawatt, multi-state production platform. The company currently has 11 GW of module and 8 GW of cell manufacturing capacity, with 8 GW of wafer and ingot lines under construction.

The agreement is designed to allow GREW Solar to integrate Caelux’s technology into its existing manufacturing infrastructure through a plug-and-play approach, enabling production of Hybrid-Tandem modules.

Commercial Production Targeted for 2028

The companies are targeting 2028 for commercial production of advanced perovskite-plus-silicon modules. The modules are intended to meet Approved List of Module Manufacturers (ALMM) eligibility requirements while supporting India’s “Make in India” vision and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) framework.

GREW Solar is expanding its manufacturing footprint across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The company said the expansion has created thousands of jobs, with additional employment projected as a result of the partnership.

“We built our platform stage by stage, from cells and modules, and followed by wafers and ingots, so that we would be ideally positioned for the next leap in solar technology,” said Hardip Singh, Chief Operating Officer, at GREW Solar. “Caelux’s Energy Producing Glass is that significant leap and we eager to be able to easily integrate it into our existing manufacturing infrastructure.”

Focus on Next-Generation Solar Technology

The partnership combines GREW Solar’s N-Type TOPCon manufacturing platform with Caelux’s perovskite-based Energy Producing Glass technology.

GREW Solar’s Manufacturing Expansion

GREW Solar, a venture of the Chiripal Group, operates a 6.5 GW solar PV module manufacturing facility in Dudu, Rajasthan, with plans to increase module manufacturing capacity to 11.0 GW.

The company is also establishing an 8.0 GW solar PV cell manufacturing facility in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh. GREW Solar manufactures high-efficiency N-type TOPCon G12R solar PV modules for utility-scale and other solar applications.

The company’s operations focus on technology, product quality, sustainable manufacturing and global market expansion, alongside its solar PV manufacturing activities in India.
