The 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of SIMA Cotton Development & Research Association (SIMA CD & RA) was held at the SIMA premises in Coimbatore on September 22, 2026.
Following the AGM, the first Council Meeting of SIMA CD & RA was held immediately thereafter, where the office-bearers were unanimously re-elected for the third term for 2026-27.
Dr. S.K. Sundararaman re-elected as Chairman
Dr. S.K. Sundararaman, Managing Director, Shiva Texyarn Limited, Coimbatore, has been unanimously re-elected as Chairman of SIMA CD & RA for 2026-27.
Dr. Sundararaman holds an MBBS degree and a Master’s in Business Management from Cambridge University, UK. He is associated with the technical textiles and technical education sectors and serves as Managing Trustee of the Firebird Institute of Research & Management.
He served as Chairman of The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA), Coimbatore, from 2023 to 2025. He has also served as past Chairman of CII, Coimbatore, Educational Convenor of CII, Tamil Nadu, and past Chairman of the Indian Technical Textile Association.
Dr. Sundararaman has also been associated with various business forums at the national level.
Mr. Durai Palanisamy re-elected as Deputy Chairman
Mr. Durai Palanisamy, Executive Director, Pallava Textiles P Limited, Erode, has been unanimously re-elected as Deputy Chairman for 2026-27.
He holds an MBA in International Business from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Technology in Textile Technology from PSG College of Technology.
Mr. Palanisamy is Vice-President of CII, Erode Zone and is also a member of the Committee of Administration of the Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL).
He currently serves as Chairman of The Southern India Mills’ Association, Coimbatore.
Mr. S. Krishnakumar re-elected as Vice-Chairman
Mr. S. Krishnakumar, Managing Director, Sulochana Cotton Spg Mills P Ltd., Tiruppur, has been unanimously re-elected as Vice-Chairman for 2026-27.
He holds a B.A. in Psychology from P.S.G. Arts College, Coimbatore, and entered the business in the late 1980s.
Mr. Krishnakumar is involved in various CSR activities. His organisation has planted 1.5 million trees in Tiruppur, including 30,000 trees within its mill premises.
He is also the Deputy Chairman of The Southern India Mills’ Association, Coimbatore.
The re-election of the office-bearers follows the 51st AGM of SIMA CD & RA and sets the leadership structure of the association for the 2026-27 term.
