Event to feature nearly 115 stalls showcasing summer and winter apparel for the Indian market
Tiruppur, a major garment manufacturing hub, will host a domestic garment exhibition from January 3 to 5, bringing together manufacturers and buyers of apparel designed for the Indian market. The event is being organised by the South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association (SIHMA) and the Tiruppur Domestic Garments Manufacturers Association (TIDGMA).
Apart from export-oriented production, Tiruppur manufactures T-shirts, innerwear and other apparel worth more than ₹40,000 crore annually for the domestic market. Several leading brands source garments from the city.
R. Dhamodharan, secretary of SIHMA, said the association has nearly 675 manufacturers producing garments and innerwear for the Indian market, while TIDGMA represents around 350 to 400 apparel manufacturers. These manufacturers produce clothing for both summer and winter seasons.
“We plan to hold two fairs annually – one in Tiruppur for summer wear and another in a north Indian city for winter wear. Tiruppur garment makers produce winter wear such as thermal wear, hoodies, and so on, apart from T-shirts and basic garments,” Dhamodharan said.
The event logo was unveiled, and stall registration began on October 9 at a meeting chaired by P. Shanmugasundaram, president of SIHMA, and M.K.M. Balasubramaniam, president of TIDGMA.
The exhibition will take place at the India Knit Fair complex from January 3 to 5 and is expected to feature nearly 115 stalls.
Organisers plan to invite retail chains, distributors, white-label buyers, corporate buyers and uniform manufacturers to participate in the business event, providing a platform for domestic garment manufacturers to connect with potential buyers.
