ESSCI Hosts ESDM Skills Samvad 2026 to Build Industry-Ready Workforce

Industry leaders, policymakers and academic experts discuss emerging skill requirements, semiconductor workforce development and stronger industry-academia collaboration to support India’s Viksit Bharat vision.

The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) organised ESDM Skills Samvad 2026 in New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, industry representatives, academic experts and skilling institutions to discuss the future of workforce development in India’s Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. The workshop focused on addressing skill gaps, strengthening industry-academia partnerships and preparing professionals for emerging opportunities in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) organised ESDM Skills Samvad 2026 – Workforce Development for Viksit Bharat at The Suryaa, New Delhi. The industry consultation workshop brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academic experts and skilling institutions to deliberate on evolving skill requirements and workforce development priorities in India’s Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector.

Held under the theme “Skill Right toh (तो) Future Bright!”, the workshop focused on bridging skill gaps, strengthening industry-academia collaboration and developing a skilled workforce to support the expansion of India’s electronics and semiconductor industries.

The initiative was organised with the support of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Inaugural Session and Qualification Handbook Launch

The inaugural session was attended by Ms. Nidhi Satija, Director, MSDE, as Chief Guest, along with Dr. Sandipann P. Narote from NCVET, ESSCI Board Members Prof. Rao and Mr. Sanjiv Narayan, and officials from NSDC.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of the ESSCI Qualification Handbook by the dignitaries. The handbook aims to strengthen industry-aligned qualifications and establish a structured approach to developing relevant technical competencies across the electronics sector.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Madhvendra Singh, CEO, ESSCI, said, “India’s electronics and semiconductor sectors are expanding rapidly, creating new opportunities for skilled professionals. To sustain this growth, our skilling ecosystem must keep pace with changing technologies and industry requirements. ESDM Skills Samvad provides a platform for industry and academia to jointly identify future skill needs and develop training frameworks that improve employability and prepare young professionals for emerging opportunities.”

Technical Panel Explores Future Skills in ESDM

The workshop featured two panel discussions addressing technological developments, changing workforce requirements and emerging employment opportunities in the ESDM sector.

The technical panel, titled “Skills of Tomorrow: Emerging Job Roles & Future Trends in ESDM,” brought together experts from Sahasra Semiconductors, Bergen Systems, STMicroelectronics, NXP Semiconductors, Truechip Solutions, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory and Udham Singh Shaheed Skill Development & Entrepreneurship University, Punjab.

The discussion examined emerging technologies, semiconductor-related competencies and future occupational requirements. Participants highlighted the importance of preparing professionals with technical skills that align with changing industry needs.

HR Panel Discusses Changing Recruitment and Talent Trends

The second panel, “Hiring Reimagined: Talent Trends in the New Age of ESDM,” focused on recruitment practices, employability challenges and workforce expectations.

The discussion included representatives from Manav Rachna Institute of Technology, Circulogy, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, AISECT Bhopal and Bhartiya Skill Development University, Jaipur, alongside industry veteran Mr. Srinivasu Moturi.

The panel explored changing hiring requirements and the need for closer coordination between employers and educational institutions to ensure that graduates and trained professionals possess the competencies required by the electronics industry.

Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration

The deliberations highlighted the importance of regularly updating training programmes, developing industry-relevant qualifications and strengthening partnerships between government bodies, industry stakeholders and academic institutions.

The discussions also emphasised the need to translate emerging technological requirements into practical training frameworks that improve employability and prepare young professionals for opportunities in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

The workshop concluded with a focus on converting industry insights into actionable skilling initiatives to develop a competent, adaptable and future-ready workforce for India’s electronics sector.

Through ESDM Skills Samvad 2026, ESSCI provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss workforce challenges and identify priorities for strengthening India’s electronics skill development ecosystem in support of the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.
