The campaign includes initiatives such as office renovation, laboratory cleaning, e-waste segregation, awareness programmes and the promotion of responsible resource management across CSB establishments.
The Ministry of Textiles has highlighted the significant achievements and initiatives undertaken by the Central Silk Board (CSB) under Special Campaign 6, a Government of India initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness, improving workplace efficiency, reducing pending matters and strengthening the management of official records and resources.
As part of the campaign, the Central Silk Board has undertaken several activities focusing on workplace cleanliness, systematic record management, disposal of obsolete materials and optimum utilisation of available office space. These initiatives aim to create cleaner, more organised and efficient working environments across its establishments.
The activities also include reviewing physical and electronic records, identifying redundant materials for disposal and ensuring the appropriate management of scrap and e-waste in accordance with applicable guidelines.
1. Workplace Cleanliness and Facility Improvements
The Central Silk Board has undertaken deep-cleaning and maintenance activities across its establishments, covering office rooms, laboratories, workbenches, corridors, storage areas and common facilities.
A notable initiative involves the renovation of office washrooms to improve hygiene and sanitation facilities for employees. Cleaning activities have also covered campuses, pathways, parking areas and drinking-water points.
The removal of weeds and unwanted vegetation forms part of the broader effort to maintain cleaner and better-organised premises.
2. Record Management and Space Optimisation
Under the campaign, CSB is focusing on improving record management and making better use of available office space.
Record rooms and storage racks are being cleaned and reorganised, while old files are being reviewed and records identified for weeding are being processed according to applicable retention schedules and rules.
Workbenches and work areas are also being maintained in a clutter-free condition. Unused and damaged materials are being identified for removal to improve accessibility, workplace safety and space utilisation.
3. E-Waste and Scrap Management
The campaign also places emphasis on the responsible disposal of obsolete electronic equipment and other scrap materials.
Obsolete information technology and telecommunication equipment, e-waste and damaged furniture are being segregated and processed for disposal through prescribed procedures.
According to the campaign progress data, 75 obsolete IT and telecommunication equipment items have been identified for disposal. These include desktop computers, printers and laptops.
The initiative supports systematic waste management and the responsible handling of obsolete office equipment.
4. Awareness Programmes and Environmental Sustainability
The Central Silk Board is conducting awareness campaigns, seminars and presentations to promote the 4R principles: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Activities under Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 included cleanliness drives, rallies, tree plantation programmes, waste segregation awareness and demonstrations on home composting and vermicomposting.
The initiatives also promoted environmentally responsible practices at farms and campuses.
Under Safai Mitra Samman Shivir activities, personal protective equipment (PPE) was distributed and sanitation workers were felicitated. Staff health-check-up programmes were also organised as part of the SHS campaign.
5. Social Media Outreach and Public Awareness
The Central Silk Board has used its official social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Channels, to share updates and photographs of activities conducted by its institutes, offices and nested units under Special Campaign 6.
The digital outreach has helped document campaign activities, increase public awareness and encourage wider participation in cleanliness and environmental responsibility initiatives.
Strengthening Cleanliness and Good Governance
Through Special Campaign 6 activities, the Central Silk Board is reinforcing its focus on workplace cleanliness, administrative accountability, environmental responsibility and efficient resource management.
Initiatives covering washroom renovation, laboratory and campus cleaning, systematic record management, e-waste segregation, clutter-free workspaces and 4R awareness are contributing to improved workplace conditions across its establishments.
The initiatives demonstrate the Central Silk Board’s participation in the Government of India’s Special Campaign 6 and its commitment to Swachhata, good governance and sustainable resource management.
The Ministry of Textiles continues to encourage its attached and subordinate offices, organisations and public sector undertakings to participate actively in the campaign and work towards achieving the targets established under Special Campaign 6.
