In a momentous turn of events, Bhadresh Dodhia, the Vice Chairman and now Chairman of the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), has spearheaded significant advancements in the Indian textile industry. Under Dodhia’s visionary leadership, the SRTEPC has achieved remarkable milestones and fostered unparalleled growth in the sector.
Recognizing the need to explore new avenues, Dodhia secured the crucial role of export promotion for technical textiles for the SRTEPC. This strategic move facilitated the expansion of India’s technical textiles market and set the stage for enhanced global competitiveness. The government’s subsequent decision to grant the SRTEPC financial support of ₹1 crore under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) showcases the confidence placed in Dodhia’s vision and the council’s capabilities.
In September 2022, Dodhia achieved a significant breakthrough as the government entrusted the SRTEPC with the responsibility of export promotion for technical textiles, a monumental achievement for the council. Founded in 1954, the SRTEPC has traditionally focused on promoting the exports of manmade fibre textile products such as fibre, yarn, fabrics, and made-ups. This new endeavor underscores Dodhia’s commitment to exploring diverse segments within the textile industry and driving sustainable growth.
One of Dodhia’s key accomplishments has been the instrumental role he played in securing an increase in the Rates of Duty Drawback for several Manmade Fiber (MMF) textile products. Through relentless advocacy efforts, the RODTEP rates for MMF textile products were raised from 0.7 percent to an impressive 2.5 percent. This decisive move has bolstered the export potential of MMF textiles, opening up new avenues for manufacturers and traders.
Building on his success, Dodhia implemented a comprehensive reorganization within the SRTEPC upon assuming the role of Chairman. He established sub-committees dedicated to specific product categories, including fibre, yarn, fabrics, made-ups, and technical textiles. These sub-committees comprise industry experts with extensive experience in their respective domains, ensuring a focused and strategic approach to driving growth.
Under Dodhia’s leadership, the SRTEPC also formed a dedicated sub-committee for accounts, finance, administration, and export awards. This committee further strengthens the council’s internal operations and facilitates effective coordination among stakeholders.
