In a move that solidifies its commitment to the global clean energy transition, Toray Industries, a leading chemical and materials manufacturer, has announced plans to ramp up regular tow carbon fiber production at two key facilities. The Spartanburg plant of Toray Composite Materials America in South Carolina, USA, and the Gumi plant of Toray Advanced Materials Korea in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, will witness significant capacity expansions.
The strategic investments will enable Toray Group to increase its annual production capacity by more than 20%, reaching an impressive milestone of 35,000 metric tons by 2025. The decision comes in response to the surging demand for pressure vessel applications in the United States and Korea, driven by the rapid growth of clean energy alternatives such as hydrogen and natural gas.
