Andritz Dry Moulded Fibre Technical Centre

PulPac’s moulding technique in conjunction with Dan-Web’s airlaid nonwoven forming capabilities.

One product that uses DMF technology is coffee cup lids.

In Montbonnot, France, Andritz opened a new technological facility devoted to developing dry moulded fibre (DMF) solutions.

Andritz is now able to provide whole DMF lines because to its strategic cooperation with Sweden’s PulPac, which turns cellulose fibres into three-dimensional goods for sustainable packaging in a practically waterless process.

The development of industrial-scale solutions for high-speed, turnkey DMF manufacturing units for the packaging sector will be aided by the new technical centre and its pilot line. Customers will also be able to carry out experiments, get assistance with research and development initiatives, and produce new goods with unique forms and barrier qualities.

According to Andreas Lukas, senior vice president of Andritz Nonwoven & Textile, “processing wood pulp has long been a core competency of Andritz.” “Our new pilot plant is a significant step forward in developing our wood pulp-based solutions for ethical convenience packaging. By merging PulPac’s moulding technology with our Dan-Web airlaid forming capabilities, we want to achieve the maximum throughput, product quality, and flexibility in this industry.
