Archroma and Shima Seiki Expand Partnership, Offering Extensive Color Library for Textile Design

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Archroma, a global leader in color and specialty chemicals, and Shima Seiki, a renowned knitting technology leader, have unveiled an exciting expansion of their partnership. This venture aims to revolutionize the textile industry by providing designers and manufacturers access to the largest color library for cotton and polyester through the SDS-ONE APEX design, planning, and virtual sampling system, as well as the APEXFiz subscription software.

This remarkable collaboration has brought a staggering total of 5,760 color references to the SDS-ONE APEX series. Notably, the system has incorporated all 1,440 colors for polyester from Archroma’s renowned “The Color Atlas” into its existing library of 4,320 Color Atlas colors for cotton poplin. This expansion introduces a dazzling array of shades, ranging from neutral earth tones to vibrant jewel tones and even on-trend fluorescent colors. These colors cater to diverse applications such as sportswear, fashion, home furnishings, automotive textiles, and more.

The enhanced color library in SDS-ONE APEX represents a game-changer for designers and manufacturers. It empowers them to visualize and assess their design choices through realistic fabric simulations. Moreover, they can seamlessly transition to machine programming for swift and precise production, thus reducing waste and accelerating time to market.

What sets this collaboration apart is that each of the 5,760 Color Atlas color references available in the SDS-ONE APEX series comes with a corresponding physical color standard. These standards include precise dyeing recipes and compliance data, giving users a comprehensive understanding of the materials they work with. Furthermore, they can tap into Archroma’s expert technical support network worldwide.

Polyester, being a popular choice in numerous textile segments where high performance is paramount, takes center stage in this partnership. Chris Hipps, the head of strategic business development for Archroma Color Management, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Users of Shima Seiki’s advanced SDS-ONE APEX series platform will now be able to select from the industry’s largest library of colors for both cotton and polyester and, more importantly, trust that their choice can be reliably executed. Our colors are formulated with dyes that comply with international eco-standards.”

This partnership not only expands the color possibilities for the textile industry but also places sustainability at the forefront. As designers and manufacturers leverage this extensive color library, they can confidently create products that meet their desired sustainability profiles. With its promise of versatility, efficiency, and eco-compliance, the Archroma and Shima Seiki collaboration is poised to make a lasting impact in the world of textile design and production.
