The 77th Annual General Meeting and Annual Convention 2024

Sunil Singhvi, CEO (Energy), Secure Meters, has been named the next president of the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ body (IEEMA) for the 2024–2025 term. IEEMA is the premier body for the country’s electrical and related electronic manufacturing sector. At the association’s 77th AGM and Annual Convention in 2024, Mr. Singhvi takes over as CMD of Stelmec Ltd. from Hamza Arsiwala.

The President-Elect is now Vikram Gandotra, Head of Utility Sales & Strategy at Siemens Ltd. Vice-President Siddharth Bhutoria, a full-time director of RTS Power Corporation Ltd., has been chosen.

The newly elected President, Mr. Singhvi, expressed his vision, saying, “I am honored and thrilled to assume the office of President. This year, we’ll concentrate on strengthening IEEMA’s position as a global leader in the field of strategic leadership, emphasizing quality, safety, and reliability (QSR), and promoting advancements in the electrical industry. Our goal is to establish IEEMA as a frontrunner in the energy transition by promoting growth in emerging sectors including green hydrogen, energy storage, and e-mobility.

The association has made great strides in the industry under the direction of outgoing President Hamza Arsiwala, CMD of Stelmec Ltd. “Leading IEEMA has been an honor,” Mr. Arsiwala says with thanks as he hands over the baton. I have no doubt that the new group will go on advancing our goal of an electrical sector that is sustainable and competitive on a global scale.

Vikram Gandotra, the newly elected President-Elect and Chairman of ELECRAMA 2025, highlighted the association’s dedication to industry development, policy advocacy, and ELECRAMA 2025. “This year, we will concentrate on ELECRAMA 2025 expansion, policy framework enhancement, business conditions improvement, and innovation support.” In order to get ready for new opportunities brought about by the energy transition and digitalization, we will also step up our interaction with industry,” he stated.

Siddharth Bhutoria, the newly elected Vice-President, has been leading Young@IEEMA’s special projects. Previously, he oversaw IEEMA’s Eastern region. In addition, he serves as ELECRAMA 2025’s vice chairman. He said, “Today IEEMA presents a huge opportunity for our sector,” as he was being elected. Having been elected feels fantastic. Our objective is to collaborate closely with the government and business community to develop the sector in an effective and sustainable manner.

The industry’s growing topics and IEEMA’s strategic plan for the upcoming year were both emphasized during the Annual Convention. Speaking during the annual convention plenary, Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director of KEC International Ltd., emphasized the prospects facing the business, saying, “We all need to get ready for the significant changes in the industry if we want to meet the demand.” There has been a noticeable shift in the way we maintain quality. How can we prepare to expedite projects by automation, mechanization, etc.? is the question.

Every industry is seeing an increase in demand, according to Ashish Bhandari, Managing Director & CEO of Thermax Ltd. India would require three times more power when it reaches its 100th anniversary of independence. Demand will come from the steel, cement, electricity, and other industries. We have the upcoming years to assist in building the necessary infrastructure. Electricity will be the next big driver. India is at a relatively good spot, but the electricity we will require will be huge, so also the amount of infrastructure development required.”

The chairman of Avaada Group, Vineet Mittal, discussed how renewable energy may power the next wave of economic expansion. He stated, “Investment and money are no longer barriers to growing a business.” There is no room for skepticism because these are prosperous times. We want to make large investments in both production and investments. We now have contracts for 23 GW of renewable energy, and we have big intentions for the future.

Amar Kaul, MD and CEO of CG Power, gave a thought-provoking talk on how to implement successful change management in an organization. Chetan Bhagat, a writer and columnist, gave a stirring speech at the convention’s end on the “eleven rules of life.”
