[April 26, 2024, New Delhi]. Since India signed the EFTA agreement, CITI has focused on promoting commercial ties with Switzerland, a significant textile trade partner. CITI has partnered with the National Textile Association of Switzerland to increase engagement.
The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) sent a delegation to Techtextil 2024, a leading trade event for technical textiles and nonwovens held in Germany from April 23 to 26, 2024. The CITI delegation, led by Dr. S.K. Sundararaman, engaged with textile companies and associations in Switzerland to develop collaboration and advance the global textile sector.
CITI members attended a B2B meeting at Techtextil to explore technical textiles, nonwovens, functional apparel fabrics, and textile technologies. It facilitated inquiry, knowledge sharing, and strategic alliances. The B2B conversations and tour of the Swiss Textiles exhibit, guided by the Chairman, provided insights into the newest innovations and advancements in the textile business, promoting networking and knowledge-sharing among industry leaders.
The CITI mission was the first in a series of engagement events aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships between the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry and Swiss Textiles to advance the textile sector.
CITI and Swiss Textiles inked a Joint Declaration on November 23, 2023, during India-Switzerland’s 19th Joint Economic Commission (JEC). This proclamation demonstrates both parties’ commitment to collaboration and improved trade relations, an important milestone in the textile industry.
Mr. Dinesh Nolkha, Vice Chairman of CITI, played a pivotal role in the JEC session, articulating the strategic objectives of the Joint Declaration and outlining plans for deeper engagement with the Swiss Textile Industry.
