DiloGroup Showcases Cutting-Edge Nonwoven Technologies at In-House Exhibition

Following their participation at ITMA 23, DiloGroup hosted a successful in-house exhibition at their headquarters in Eberbach, Germany, to showcase their latest innovations in nonwoven manufacturing lines. This event served as an additional opportunity for customers to experience Dilo’s advancements firsthand.

Exclusive Tours and Demonstrations

Over 80 interested visitors took advantage of Dilo’s invitation, participating in guided audio tours led by Deputy CEOs Rebekka and Riccarda Dilo and their teams. These tours offered a comprehensive look at DiloGroup’s R&D and demonstration centres, specifically designed for this event.

A Showcase of Innovation

Spread across 3,100 square metres, the exhibition featured a wide range of Dilo’s latest machinery and complete lines. Highlights included:

  • MicroPunch S Research and Demonstration Line: This line focuses on lightweight nonwovens, capable of needling materials from 35 to 160 g/m². It incorporates the MultiCard MCRR CC with an FRS-P feeder, specifically designed for hygiene, cosmetic, medical, and technical applications.

  • Hypertex Line: This line produces lightweight, reinforced nonwoven sandwiches for enhanced strength and stiffness. These materials find applications in filtration, roofing, shoes, and garments.

  • Technology Centers I and II: These centres showcased live demonstrations on three complete nonwoven lines, including a 7-metre wide needling line featuring the VQC Card (Quadro), the high-speed DLSC three-apron layer, and a 7-metre wide pre-needler.

A Glimpse into the Future: Additive Manufacturing for Nonwovens

A key highlight of the event was the demonstration of “additive manufacturing” in the aerodynamic web forming section. This technology utilises the 3D-Lofter, a series of programmable web formers that precisely lay down additional fibre materials. This innovative technology offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Improved Flock Matt Regularity: The IsoFeed function enhances the consistency of flock mats by up to 4-5% CV, optimising card feeding.

  • Reinforced Automotive Linings: The reinforcement function strengthens specific areas in needled substrates used for car interior linings, enabling material savings of 30-40%.

  • Enhanced Patterning Capabilities: The 3D-Lofter significantly expands the design possibilities for needled felts used in automotive applications, wall coverings, and floor coverings. It allows for the creation of sliding colours (“Colour Slide“), geometric patterns, and inscriptions, catering to modern design trends.

When combined with the DI-LOUR IV double structuring system, the 3D-Lofter offers a particularly attractive solution for lightweight moulded car velours.

A Day of Learning and Connection

The in-depth tours provided visitors with valuable insights into Dilo’s machinery, technologies, and resulting textile products. Additionally, Dilo offered technical literature and samples for further exploration. The event culminated in a dedicated area for refreshments and discussion, fostering connections and collaboration among Dilo and its international clientele. Visitors from South America, Africa, Europe, and China all expressed their appreciation for this informative and engaging experience.
