Domtar adds airlaid production line to EAM facility in Georgia

Recently, a $90 million investment that added a sizable airlaid production line to Domtar’s Engineered Absorbent Materials (EAM) facility in Jesup, Georgia, as well as 75 new positions was completed. The EAM expansion elevates Domtar to the top tier of nonwovens suppliers.

According to Steve Henry, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Domtar, “The EAM expansion adds more scale and technology, and when combined with our world-class fluff pulp business, we will deliver more value to our customers and Domtar for many years to come.” “We are very optimistic and enthusiastic about what the future holds for EAM and Domtar’s pulp business.”

We now run a 331,000 square foot plant with three airlaid lines, two laminate lines, and eight packaging lines thanks to this expansion. doubling our capacity,” EAM general manager Vanécia Carr added.

The EAM expansion makes Domtar the second-largest airlaid supplier in the United States and the third largest in the world. And in addition to growing capacity, EAM continues growing its team.

“We’ve grown to 150 employees and will continue to hire until we reach approximately 170.
