South America & Latin America Market @ 23rd Edition of EDIFICA (INTERNATIONAL CONSTRUCTION FAIR

EDIFICA, the most important International Construction Fair in Latin America, will be held from 15 to 17 October 2024, in Espacio Riesco, Santiago de Chile.

EDIFICA is organised by the Chilean Chamber of Construction, CChC, a trade association whose objective is to promote the development and promotion of construction activity as a fundamental lever for the development of the country, in the context of a social market economy based on private initiative.

The CCHC is part of the Confederation of Production and Commerce, CPC, an entity that brings together the trade associations of the main productive and service sectors in Chile, as well as the Ibero-American Federation of the Construction Industry, FIIC, and the Confederation of International Contractors’ Associations, CICA.

Produced and marketed by Espacio Riesco, the 2024 event will have more than 40,000 square meters of exhibition space in the country’s most important exhibition centre, which has 160,000 m2 of space and varied facilities, suitable for the professional development of this international activity, in which around 400 exhibiting companies will take part.

INDIA-CHILE TRADE RELATIONS:

In 2003 Chile accepted a proposal from India to negotiate a Partial Scope Agreement (PSA). Initial work began in 2004, and in that year draft texts were prepared. On 20 January 2005, Chile and India signed a Framework Agreement to Promote Economic Cooperation, aimed at promoting the expansion of trade and providing the conditions and mechanisms for the negotiation of a free trade agreement, and the launch of negotiations towards a limited scope Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) in 2005 were announced.

India’s exports to Chile had been growing steadily since 2009, with the exception of a slight decrease in 2014, when a new carbon tax on diesel vehicles in Chile adversely affected motor vehicle exports from India, but this sector has seen a big recovery. The expanded preferential trade agreement began implementation in May 2017 and since then India’s exports to Chile have increased.

WHY EDIFICA?

For 33 years, EDIFICA has been bringing together in one place all the players in the sector to showcase the latest trends, advances in building solutions and technologies. The fair provides more than 2,000 direct jobs and generates around US$10.5 million in revenue for the city of Santiago, the capital of Chile.

The next edition inspires us to strengthen the reactivation and commercial opportunities, providing the necessary knowledge to advance and recover our economy. EDIFICA will generate more than 1,000 business meetings. Since 1990 EDIFICA has shown the future of construction, new materials, trends and technologies essential for an increasingly solid and sustainable development.

In this 23rd edition of EDIFICA, more than 400 exhibiting companies will participate, covering the widest range of construction suppliers, with around 5,000 brands, represented by companies from the five continents. The participation of Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Spain, the United States, Italy, India, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, and an expanded sample from China and Turkey has stood out in the last versions.
