Under its National Technical Textiles Mission, the federal government wants to export technical textiles valued at USD 10 billion, MoS textiles Pabitra Margherita told the Rajya Sabha this week.
With a financial investment of Rs 1,480 crore, the Mission was started in 2020–21 with the goal of making India a global leader in technological textiles. It has now been extended until 2025–26.
According to reports, India now exports between USD 2 billion and USD 3 billion worth of technical textiles.
Textile materials and products utilised largely for their technical performance in a variety of high-end sectors are referred to as technical textiles. With a budget of Rs 1,000 crore, research, innovation, and development is the first of the mission’s four main components.
The following components are export promotion (Rs 10 crore), education, training, and skill development (Rs 400 crore), and promotion and market development (Rs 50 crore).
