In an extraordinary display of dedication to sustainability, Indorama Ventures, the world’s largest producer of recycled resin used in plastic beverage bottles, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone. With 20 recycling sites spread across Asia, the Americas, and Europe, the company is leading the charge in reducing plastic waste and carbon emissions on a global scale.
The company’s recent achievements demonstrate its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. Notably, Indorama Ventures has doubled the capacity of its recycling site in Brazil, amplifying the impact of their recycling efforts in South America. Furthermore, in partnership with the beverage giant Coca-Cola, they have inaugurated PETValue, a facility in the Philippines that stands as the world’s largest bottle-to-bottle recycling plant. These impressive milestones have been made possible, in part, through the generous support of a $300 million ‘Blue Loan’ received in 2020 from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a division of the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
The ‘Blue Loan’ carries a noble objective: to enhance recycling capacity and divert plastic waste away from landfills and oceans in key nations such as Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and Brazil. These countries, grappling with the challenge of managing environmental waste, have found a steadfast ally in Indorama Ventures.
Mr. Aloke Lohia, the CEO of Indorama Ventures, expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s remarkable achievements, saying, “Reaching this milestone is a testament to our planet’s growing commitment to sustainability. Each of these bottles represents a reduction in waste and a step towards a world where no packaging ends up as litter or waste. This shows the positive change that can occur when we work together to support PET recycling and strive for a more circular world.”
Indorama Ventures’ journey towards sustainability reflects a broader global shift towards environmental consciousness. Their tireless efforts are a shining example of what can be achieved when industry leaders unite to combat plastic waste and carbon emissions. As they continue to expand their recycling infrastructure and forge innovative partnerships, the world watches in anticipation of even greater strides towards a greener, more sustainable future.
In a world where environmental challenges loom large, Indorama Ventures stands as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a brighter and more eco-conscious tomorrow.
