Hanover, Germany is preparing to once again host the prestigious ITMA 2027, the world’s largest exhibition for textile and garment technology. Scheduled for September 16–22, 2027, this landmark event will take place at the Messegelände Hannover, spanning an impressive 200,000 square meters and utilizing 13 exhibition halls.
This marks ITMA’s return to Hanover after more than three decades—the last edition in the city was in 1991. The successful bid was spearheaded by Deutsche Messe, in close coordination with the City of Hanover and the Lord Mayor’s Office. Hanover, long recognized as a hub for major international trade shows, now gears up to provide an exceptional setting for the textile industry’s biggest event.
Mayor Belit Onay, also the CEO of the City of Hanover, expressed his excitement, stating, “Hosting ITMA 2027 is a significant win for Hanover. Our city offers an ideal mix of efficiency, green spaces, and modern infrastructure—perfect for an international event of this scale. We aim to make every participant’s experience seamless and memorable.”
Hanover boasts a robust hospitality sector, with over 18,000 hotel beds in the city and an additional 54,000 available in surrounding districts. 4,000 private accommodations—from guesthouses to vacation apartments—offer attendees a diverse range of options, most within a 30–90 minute commute to the fairgrounds. A dedicated campground across from the venue is available for participants arriving with motorhomes and caravans. Plus, 700 new rooms will be added in the city centre by next year.
To simplify accommodation logistics, ITMA Services has partnered with bnetwork, a seasoned destination management company, as the official travel and lodging agent. They will facilitate bookings through a dedicated platform launching soon. Inquiries can already be directed to itmahotels@bnetwork.com.
Despite not being one of Germany’s largest international gateways, Hanover is well-connected through direct high-speed train routes and a regional airport with international links. The fairground is easily accessible via light rail, motorways, and ample parking—boasting 39,000 spaces.
Alex Zucchi, President of CEMATEX, which owns ITMA, emphasized the venue’s readiness, stating, “Hanover has the infrastructure to handle an event of this magnitude. We are confident the 2027 edition will deliver the high standard ITMA participants expect.”
Additional details will be available on the official ITMA 2027 website, launching this July, ahead of stand space applications opening in September.
The most recent ITMA, held in Milan in 2023, saw 1,709 exhibitors from 47 countries and drew over 111,000 visitors from 143 nations. Expectations for ITMA 2027 are equally high.
