As the demand for technical textiles increases, India is emerging as a significant center for innovation, which has prompted Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India and the Austrian Fibers Institute to collaborate for Techtextil India, the country’s leading technical textiles platform. This alliance will integrate the Asia edition of the Dornbirn GFC into the Techtextil India Symposium in 2025, creating an event expected to establish new standards for the technical textiles industry.
The 10th edition of Techtextil India is scheduled from November 19–21, 2025, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. It will host the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress Asia on November 18, 2025. This collaboration seeks to unite influential platforms, providing a chance to explore advancements in fiber technology, materials, and applications.
The Dornbirn GFC Asia in India 2025 will focus on “Shaping the Future: Sustainable Growth in Fiber Solutions and Innovations“. The conference will feature subject matter experts, researchers, manufacturers, and thought leaders who will share expertise in the fiber and textile industry. Discussions will highlight advances in spinning technology.
Driven by research and development, Techtextil India will showcase industry innovations, covering man-made fibers, nonwovens, applications, and maintenance.
According to Mr Raj Manek, Executive Director and Board Member of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd, this partnership will enhance networking and knowledge sharing for industry professionals, setting a new benchmark for the technical textiles sector.
Mr Matthias W. Gluth, Managing Director of the Austrian Fibers Institute, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting its alignment with the Dornbirn GFC’s vision to expand its presence in Asia. He added that, alongside Dornbirn GFC Asia – Korea, this collaboration demonstrates a commitment to engaging with the Indian market and fostering global partnerships in the fiber and textile industry.
Techtextil India 2025 is already sold out, with industry giants like Reliance Industries, Aditya Birla Yarns, JB Ecotex Ltd, Ganesha Ecosphere Ltd, Perlon Group, and more committed to showcasing their innovations. The event will feature industry machinery manufacturers, fiber and yarn producers, textile mills, and functional textiles, along with specialized pavilions like Meditex, focused on medical textiles.
The Indian government aims for the technical textile market to reach USD 40 billion by 2030, with total exports targeted at USD 10 billion. Government initiatives such as the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) and the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) support industry stakeholders. The NTTM focuses on 156 R&D projects to drive innovation, while the government encourages Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) to boost the segment.
The increasing emphasis on sustainability and circularity in textiles is creating opportunities for reusing, repairing, and recycling products. The Indian government and educational programs are promoting knowledge and skills in areas like medical, mobile, and geotextiles. Applications in medical textiles, sportswear, automotive, construction, and environmental sustainability are driving the demand for high-performance materials.
The collaboration of Dornbirn GFC and Techtextil India 2025 is a pivotal step in positioning India as a global hub for technical textile innovation and strengthening cross-border knowledge exchange. Techtextil Symposium India will also present the Meditex Conference during the event.
