Introducing Rei-Tanning™: A Breakthrough in Mycelium Material Engineering
Through a collaboration between MycoWorks’ Innovation Center in San Francisco and its tannery experts in Igualada, Spain, the company has developed Rei-Tanning™—a proprietary technology that enhances Reishi™’s consistency, strength, and softness. This exclusive retanning process allows Reishi™ to support intricate luxury product applications, such as stitch-and-turn and edge techniques. Clients can access specific retanning guidelines under license to customize Reishi™ for their needs.
Reishi™ Performance Benchmarking
Third-party testing by CTC Groupe has validated Reishi™’s superior performance, with impressive results across key indicators:
✔ Bally Flex Resistance: Up to 20,000 cycles
✔ Martindale Abrasion Resistance: Up to 25,600 cycles
✔ Colorfastness: Passed 200-cycle dye transfer test
✔ Ageing Test (50°C, 90% humidity): Passed
✔ Finish Adhesion: Achieved 0.5N/mm

Additional in-house testing by Ligne Roset—a MycoWorks strategic partner—demonstrated outstanding results for furniture applications, surpassing typical industry benchmarks. Reishi™ withstood 50,000 Martindale cycles and a sitting simulation test (replicating a 100kg human for 25,000 cycles), proving its resilience for upholstery and interior design.
