New Digz Consignment Co-Founder Advocates Recycling Clothes for Environmental Benefit

Sadiqa Brown, the co-founder of New Digz Consignment, is championing the message that donating or consigning used clothes can significantly benefit the environment. Brown stresses the importance of this initiative by highlighting the alarming statistic from the Environmental Protection Agency that reveals over 11 million tons of textile waste find their way to landfills annually, representing roughly 85% of all textiles produced and taking more than 200 years to decompose.

Having recognized textile waste as a longstanding threat to the planet, Brown emphasises the positive impact of consigning, recycling, and sustainable practices on environmental preservation. Teamed up with her partner, Kelli Queen, after a corporate job loss, Brown delved into the consignment business with a vision to offer a more aesthetically appealing and customer-friendly experience compared to traditional outlets.

With a commitment to fostering community support and aiding smaller consignment ventures, Brown and Queen have expanded their business with two successful locations, striving to provide a broader platform for sellers. Through their work, they aim to not only promote eco-conscious fashion practices but also act as a source of generosity and support for others in their industry.
