Malmö – Conventional air-cooling techniques are unable to meet the growing demands on data centers brought about by cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and cloud computing. Perstorp, a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), is a major global inventor in specialty chemicals. In response to these issues, SynmerseTM DC, a high-performing cooling solution based on a rapidly biodegradable synthetic fluid, is introduced.
For data center immersion cooling systems, this product offers improved operating safety, cooling efficiency, and less fluid maintenance. It further lowers the power required for cooling thanks to its superior thermal management and heat transfer efficiency. For material compatibility with next-generation computer technologies, Perstorp worked with top processor and original design manufacturers to produce Synmerse DC. Furthermore, as a PFAS-free alternative with zero ozone depletion potential, that is based on a readily biodegradable synthetic fluid, Synmerse DC offers environmental benefits, supporting the shift toward more sustainable cooling solutions. It will showcase Synmerse DC for the first time at Data Center World Asia in Singapore, on October 9-10, in the PETRONAS booth E15.
Future sourcing alternatives were considered while developing Perstorp’s Synmerse DC, enabling a transition to traceable, mass-balanced raw materials that are based on renewable resources or recycled materials. This is consistent with Perstorp’s long-term goal of being Finite Material Neutral, which calls for a full switch to recycled and renewable raw materials.
