The proposed airport will serve as a link between Europe and Asia.

Mumbai, November 15, 2024: To invite Indian investors and strategic business partners for the proposed USD 3 billion airport project in the Podlaskie region, in eastern Poland, World Trade Centre Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) arranged an interactive meeting with Mr. Karol Halicki, President of the Podlaskie Chamber of Aviation and Chairman of the Board, Airport Bialystok. At this event, Mr. Mateusz Reszczyk, Consul of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai, gave a special speech.
As a result of several Indian firms forming joint ventures with Polish enterprises, Mr. Reszczyk stated, “I am pleased to see that Poland-India business relations are growing significantly over the last four years.” An increasing number of Indian students are choosing to pursue higher education in Poland. Our consulate office in Mumbai guarantees every assistance to expedite your visa application for travel to Poland for business, education, or pleasure. In order to oversee business contacts, we will shortly have a new Consul General in Mumbai. A committed staff at our Embassy in Delhi works to enhance commercial, academic, and cultural exchanges with India.Poland is a stunning country, and the eastern part of Podlaskie is well situated at the meeting point of the Baltic nations. As a link between Asia and Europe, Poland is constructing its first private, environmentally friendly airport in the Podlaskie area close to its border with the Baltic nations. The Consul of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai, Mr. Mateusz Reszczyk, said at an interactive meeting hosted by WTC Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries, “I invite Indian companies to invest in this proposed airport as it is the perfect opportunity to strengthen investment, trade, and tourism ties between India and Europe.” The purpose of the gathering was to ask Indian businesses to invest in this proposed airport project and to raise awareness of it.
“We are seeking strategic Indian investors for this USD 3 billion green airport project in Podlaskie, Eastern Poland, with connection to the New Silk Road Rail Line and the Rail Baltica corridor,” Mr Karol Halicki noted in his remarks. This is the first private airport project that will be utilised for commercial aviation freight, military, and civilian purposes. In order to construct and fund this airport, which can accommodate the increasing volume of air freight between Asia and Europe, we are seeking partners. The projected airport is ideally situated to handle air freight between Asia and Europe, where trade is expanding rapidly.
“There is a need for a new airport in Eastern Poland as the existing two airports in Warsaw are not enough to meet the growing demand of tourists and cargo traffic,” said Mr. Bernard Huber, Board Representative with French nations, Podlaskie Chamber of Aviation, during his remarks. The route that connects the Baltic nations lies near the proposed airport in Podlaskie. There will only be one runway at the airport, measuring 4,000 meters in length and 60 meters in width. In the first year, the airport is expected to handle 5 lakh passengers and 1 lakh tonnes of cargo. The airport is expected to handle 30 lakh people over the next 10 years, and if the geopolitical situation in this area normalises, passenger volume might reach 80 lakhs annually.
In addition to being the ideal point of entry for Asian commodities to eastern and western Europe, Mr. Huber explained that the proposed airport will serve as Asia’s gateway to central and eastern Europe, an economic zone that is rapidly expanding. In addition to carrying passengers, the airport will handle military and civilian cargo, including industrial and agricultural items.

“The historic visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Poland in August this year marks a new era in our relations as we elevated our ties to Strategic Partnership,” said Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman of WTC Mumbai and President of the All India Association of Industries (AIAI), earlier in his welcoming comments. In a historic announcement, the Indian Prime Minister unveiled a five-year action plan to strengthen connections in the areas of technology, trade, agriculture, aviation connectivity, mining, energy, and the environment. The two nations decided to deepen their collaboration in the fields of culture, education, science, research, and healthcare. Additionally, Poland and India reiterated their commitment to strengthening the India-EU Strategic Partnership.
Dr. Kalantri said that two Polish prime ministers as well as Mr. Lech Wałęsa, a former Polish president and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, had previously visited WTC Mumbai and AIAI. In order to establish trade and investment ties with Poland, WTC Mumbai led the biggest business delegation from India to any nation, consisting of 178 members and 110 firms. Twelve of these Indian businesses began doing business in Poland.
Dr. Kalantri recommended that Poland and India work together in Poland’s competitive industries, such as mining, agriculture, and energy, in order to realise India’s goal of having a USD 40 trillion GDP by 2047. He also alluded to possible joint ventures in travel and filmmaking. “Both countries share strong cultural and people-to-people ties,” Dr. Kalantri said. More than 300 Indian families call Warsaw home, and there are about 300 Indian eateries there. WTC Mumbai Executive Director Ms. Rupa Naik suggested a vote of gratitude for the occasion. “Poland is one of the most beautiful countries that I have ever visited,” Ms. Naik said. Twenty years ago, the “India Initiative” exposition was started in Poland by WTC Mumbai and AIAI to encourage trade and investment in a variety of industries, including chemicals, textiles, medicines, and agriculture. I’m hoping this meeting will open the door to a successful business collaboration between the two nations.
In order to foster commerce, investment, and technology exchange between the two nations, World commerce Centre Mumbai and the Podlaskie Chamber of Aviation signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the event.
