Nürnberg, August 15, 2024 – Sailuda, a Chinese automotive supplier, recently commissioned an Oerlikon Neumag BCF facility as part of an expansion of its production chain. The car interiors expert will eventually manufacture its own BCF yarns. By doing this, the business is able to better control the manufacturing and caliber of its vehicle carpets by integrating the whole process from the yarn to the completed carpet.
Sailuda is a prominent supplier to well-known Chinese e-car manufacturers including NIO, Lixiang, and SERES as well as to multinational automakers like BMW, Volvo, VW, and Ford. “Our success is a result of the high caliber of our products,” CEO John Zhu explains the approach. For years, the business has been indicating a steady rise in employee turnover. Sailuda aims to expand its product line and provide remarkable final goods with its own in-house carpet yarn production. The innovative trailblazer is gaining a competitive edge in the fiercely competitive automobile industry in this way.
Capacity expansion already being planned
John Zhu is positive that more investments in yarn production will be made. “The delivery and commissioning of the 2 positions BCF S+ plant for the production of PA6 and PET monocolor BCF yarns went so smoothly and quickly; this has encouraged us to invest in another system at the end of the year.” John Zhu gives an explanation of his choice to use the industry-leading S+ technology for BCF yarn systems, which produces yarns of the anticipated high quality on Oerlikon Neumag systems. “The yarns have a very uniform crimp with a high degree of coverage in the carpet.” By doing this, Sailuda is ensuring its competitiveness in the competitive automotive carpet industry.
Automotive industry strengthens BCF market in Asia
Although the USA and Turkey have historically been the primary locations for the manufacture of carpet yarn, among other things, China’s emerging automobile sector is significantly expanding the Asian carpet market. “We are seeing a rise in interest in our BCF technologies,” concur Sun Peng and Arnd Luppold, the respective Sales Directors for China and Neumünster. “We credit this to the growing production numbers in the Chinese automobile industry; China leads the world in this regard, particularly with regard to the electric vehicle market. This is increasing the need for automobile carpets.
