Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textile and Management (SVPITM), an educational institution under the Ministry of Textiles, recently organised a one-day National Level Technical Symposium titled “Texcellence’24” with the theme “Sustainability: Meeting Our Needs, Protecting Our Future”. The event took place on April 5 at the SVPITM Auditorium. It featured a series of competitions such as Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Best Manager, Business Quiz, and more, designed to test the skills and creativity of over 400 participating students from various colleges.
Dr. P. Alli Rani, the Director of SVPITM, emphasised the importance of the textile industry and encouraged students to actively contribute to this sector. Shri Ajay Gupta, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Chairperson of the Board of Governors at SVPITM, highlighted the industry’s significance in society. The chief guest, Shri Srihari Balakrishan from Sri Kannapiran Mills Limited, emphasised the importance of eco-friendly practices in textile production.
The valedictory function featured Mr SMS Sankaralingam, Chief Executive Officer of The Karur Textile Manufacturer Exporters Association, who encouraged students to learn multiple languages to thrive in the globalised textile market. The event aimed to inspire the next generation of textile professionals to prioritise sustainability and innovation in their work.
