“To decarbonise and dewaste textiles, starting with polyester,” is Syre’s stated objective. We want to accelerate the shift from a linear to a circular value chain by repurposing textile waste through the implementation of real textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale. With 12 production lines operating at full capacity and speed by 2032, Syre hopes to “do this at an unprecedented speed and scale, producing more than 3 million metric tonnes circular polyester, and in total +15 million metric tonnes CO2e abated.”
At the ITMF Annual Conference 2024 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, earlier this year, Syre was presented with the ITMF Start-up Award 2024.
“For ITMF, it is crucial that start-ups like Syre become corporate members of ITMF,” said Mr. Christian Schindler, Director General. Syre provides fresh approaches to the urgent problem of recycling textile waste. Businesses in the textile value chain see the need to make the sector more circular. Recycling textiles into new ones is a crucial step in achieving this goal. Collaboration across all segments must be strengthened in order to scale and accelerate circularity. From fibre producers to makers of textile machines to integrated manufacturers of clothing and home textiles, ITMF provides a distinctive industrial network. Additionally, ITMF provides useful data that aids startups in comprehending the dynamics and worldwide textile business.
“Syre has the opportunity to connect with well-established textile companies from around the world by joining ITMF as a corporate member,” said Ms. Stina Billinger, Director of Sustainability & Public Affairs at Syre. Through this access, one may gain a deeper understanding of the global textile value chain and benefit from the knowledge and experience of industry veterans. Access to ITMF’s publications, webinars, seminars, and conferences gives start-ups a thorough understanding of the market and allows them to network with key players.
