The BioCircular Materials Alliance is joined by Archroma.

A global alliance wants to use renewable, nature-driven materials to shift the fashion industry towards a circular future.

Switzerland, January 21, 2024, Pratteln Archroma, a global leader in specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions, has joined the BioCircular Materials Alliance to help accelerate the fashion industry’s transition to sustainable circular business models.

Conceived by biomaterials pioneer Spiber Inc., the Alliance brings together leading fashion brands, manufacturers and suppliers with the joint aim of encouraging the wider adoption of bio-based textile materials and chemical treatments. Early milestones include the creation of a Materials BioCircularity Database that will help brands and mills evaluate how their choice of fibers, dyes and finishing chemicals affect the recyclability of finished goods.

Archroma’s plan for a more sustainable textile sector is outlined in its PLANET CONSCIOUS+ vision. The Alliance’s objective of creating a circular ecosystem is ideally aligned with the company’s mission, which motivates it to work with other industry leaders to push beyond the current quo. Along with Spiber and our other Alliance partners, Archroma is honoured to be a part of this endeavour.

Dedicated to promoting sustainability, Archroma concentrates on creating dyes and chemicals products, procedures, and technologies that seek to boost market offerings in terms of sustainability while also providing increased value to customers, mills, and brands. Through its technologies, Archroma aims to assist our partners in creating clothing and fabrics that are easier to recycle, safer, and more resilient.

Stella McCartney, Marzotto Wool Manufacturing Srl, Fashion for Good and 13 new companies and organizations have joined the BioCircular Materials Alliance. Archroma is one of only two dyes and chemical suppliers in the Alliance.
