Colombiatex, the major Colombian textile fair, will be held in Medellín from January 28 to 30, 2025, and 23 Italian textile machinery manufacturers will be attending. This further demonstrates the close relationship between local textile businesses and Italian textile technology suppliers.
Colombia is still one of the major markets for textile machinery makers in the region, even if the country’s textile sector saw a decline in demand for textile machinery during the first nine months of 2024. In 2023, Italy’s exports totalled almost 13 million euros, making it the second-largest exporter of technology behind China. Italian sales in Colombia totalled 8 million euros in the first nine months of 2024.
According to Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, “the Colombian textile and apparel industry has seen strong growth in recent years, also supported by a technological upgrade in which Italian machinery has often played a key role.” “Colonadotex is still a must-attend event on the international trade fair calendar for many Italian manufacturers looking to fortify their relationships with Colombian textile companies.”
