Unique collaboration for the Extraordinary Jacket

Nespresso, Mammut and HeiQ have collaborated to design the Extraordinary Jacket for the outdoor apparel industry that delivers superior heat retention while being perfectly breathable.

Highlighting Swiss design and innovation, it features Mammut’s super-light Ajungilak insulation which now incorporates HeiQ XReflex technology, with a percentage of the aluminium sourced from recycled Nespresso capsules.

The jacket has the ability to retain 20% more heat than a conventional insulation jacket of similar thickness because the HeiQ aluminized scrim layer reflects the body’s heat radiation within the insulation layers, resulting in effortless comfort even in harsh and demanding conditions.

The jacket is now available on mammut.com and at selected Mammut stores in EMEA, North America, China, and Japan, as well as on Nespresso’s Swiss e-commerce website.

“We are proud to contribute to this project and bring another product highlighting the resource-efficiency of aluminium capsules,” said Nespresso’s Swiss head of marketing and sustainability, Irene Balascas.

“By using aluminum from used Nespresso capsules in Mammut outerwear, we are providing our customers with superior temperature regulation-performance with less weight and volume,” added Nic Brandenberger, CMO of Mammut.

Since 1991, Nespresso, headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland, has been implementing a robust recycling system. In Switzerland, used Nespresso aluminium capsules can be returned to more than 3,700 municipal collection points, and a Recycling at Home service is also offered in collaboration with the Swiss Post. In Switzerland, 72% of Nespresso’s capsules are recycled. In 2022, Nespresso achieved B Corp certification.

With its combination of hard goods, footwear, and clothing, Mammut, founded in 1862, is one the leading head-to-toe suppliers in the outdoor market. Mammut Sports Group AG is active in around 40 countries.

HeiQ was founded in 2005 as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and is now listed on the London Stock Exchange. It has a total capacity of 45,000 tons of speciality chemicals per year and serves over 1,000 industrial customers in over 60 countries.
