Green Story Partners with Frontier to Integrate Environmental Data into Fashion Material Sourcing

Partnership integrates facility-level sustainability data into fashion material sourcing workflows

Green Story has partnered with Frontier to bring environmental data closer to material sourcing decisions in the fashion and textile industry.

Green Story is a textile environmental intelligence company. Frontier is an AI-powered material digitisation and management platform used across the fashion and textile industry.

Under the partnership, Green Story’s environmental assessments will be integrated into Frontier’s platform. This will give brands and suppliers access to facility-specific sustainability data while they source and evaluate materials.

Environmental Data from Manufacturing Facilities

Green Story builds its environmental assessments using primary information. The company collects this information directly from suppliers and manufacturing facilities across 34 countries.

The data reflects how and where products are made. It is also supported by a recognised textile lifecycle assessment system.

Green Story uses an AI-driven and expert-led methodology to process the information. The company also validates and contextualises the data.

As a result, environmental information will be available through Frontier during the material sourcing process.

“Most sustainability data in fashion arrives too late to shape a material decision,” said Akhil Sivanandan, Co-Founder and CEO of Green Story.

“Our work has always been about building environmental intelligence that reflects reality, primary data from facilities, assessed by experts who understand textile manufacturing from the inside. This partnership with Frontier puts that intelligence exactly where it belongs: in the room where materials are being chosen.”

Environmental Information During Material Selection

The Green Story data will be available within Frontier’s existing material workflows.

These workflows allow brands and suppliers to source, digitise and evaluate materials. With the integration, environmental performance can be considered along with other material factors.

These factors include:

  • Technical specifications
  • Pricing
  • Material availability
  • Environmental performance

This approach places sustainability information closer to the point where material decisions are made.

“Frontier exists to scale physical materials into intelligent data which brands can actually use. Nowadays fabric decisions happen fast, however, environmental data has always played catch-up. By bringing Green Story’s facility-level intelligence directly into Frontier, we’re closing that gap. Brands and suppliers can now see the full picture of a material the moment they’re evaluating it, not after the decision is already made,” said Jing L. Chao, CEO, Frontier.cool.

Supporting New Sustainability Requirements

The partnership comes as regulatory and market requirements for environmental transparency continue to grow.

Several European sustainability regulations and requirements are increasing the need for reliable environmental information across the fashion value chain.

These include the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Digital Product Passport requirements, and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

These frameworks are creating new expectations for verifiable and data-backed sustainability information.

Access to environmental data during material selection can provide brands and suppliers with information for their sustainability and transparency processes.

Bringing Sustainability Data Closer to Sourcing

The Green Story and Frontier partnership connects environmental intelligence with existing material sourcing workflows.

By integrating facility-level data into the sourcing process, the companies aim to make environmental information available when brands and suppliers evaluate materials.

The integration therefore brings sustainability data closer to the stage where material sourcing decisions take place.
