MANTRA Recognised for Technical Textile Yarn Innovation
Surat-based textile research institute MANTRA has been conferred with an ITTA Award for its innovation in technical textile yarns, recognising its work in developing four novel yarns for technical textile applications.
The recognised yarn developments include bamboo-charcoal embedded PET, Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), standard industrial PET, and castor-oil derived nylon/Bio-nylon 11.
The award was presented at the Indian Technical Textile Awards (ITTA) ceremony held in Mumbai, which brought together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators from across the country.
Award Presented to MANTRA
Umesh Patel of MANTRA received the award on behalf of the institute.
The ceremony was attended by Shri Ajay Pandit, Joint Textile Commissioner, Office of the Textile Commissioner, Government of India, and Kartikey Dhanda, CEO of the Textile Committee, Government of India.
The recognition highlights MANTRA’s work in advancing India’s technical textile ecosystem through research, innovation and industry collaboration.

Focus on Innovative Technical Textile Yarns
The four yarn developments recognised through the award cover different material and application areas within technical textiles. These include bamboo-charcoal embedded PET, PBT, standard industrial PET and castor-oil derived nylon/Bio-nylon 11.
