Nabtesco Precision Europe and FLUX GmbH have partnered to introduce the RDS-C Link, a precision gearbox solution with integrated inductive encoder technology. The system enables absolute position measurement directly at the gearbox output, supporting improved positioning accuracy in applications where even small angular deviations matter.
RDS-C Link Combines Gearbox and Encoder Technology
FLUX GmbH, a specialist in high-precision position encoders, has integrated its inductive encoder technology into Nabtesco’s new RDS-C Link. The solution combines Nabtesco’s precision cycloidal gearbox technology with a specially adapted encoder from FLUX’s IND-ROT series.
The system measures absolute position directly at the gearbox output. This allows more accurate position detection and helps improve positioning performance.
The RDS-C Link will be presented at SPS 2026, taking place from 24–26 November 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany. Visitors can see the solution at Nabtesco’s stand in Hall 3A, Booth 426.
Inductive Encoder Delivers High-Precision Feedback
The FLUX encoder uses a contactless inductive measurement principle. It is designed specifically for the requirements of the RDS-C Link.
Through a hollow shaft connected to the gearbox output shaft, the encoder detects absolute position directly at the output. It offers a resolution of up to 22 bits and accuracy of up to ±18 arcseconds.
The inductive measurement principle also makes the encoder suitable for demanding operating environments. Dust, contamination and condensation can affect optical sensing systems, while the contactless inductive technology supports reliable measurement under such conditions.
The encoder also offers high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), making it suitable for applications that require consistent and accurate position feedback.
Key Features of the RDS-C Link
The RDS-C Link is designed for applications where precise angular positioning is essential. Its key features include:
- Direct output position detection: Measures absolute position directly at the gearbox output shaft.
- Precise positioning under load: Supports accurate positioning even when the gearbox is under load.
- Multiturn capability: Provides multiturn position measurement.
- Positioning deviation compensation: Enables compensation for deviations caused by gearbox compliance, wear and temperature effects.
- Compact integration: Offers a compact design that can reduce design and integration effort.
These capabilities make the system relevant to satellite, antenna and radar systems, irradiation equipment and X-ray systems.
FLUX and Nabtesco Highlight Collaboration
Commenting on the partnership, Paul Tutzu, Managing Director at FLUX GmbH, said:
“We’re proud to be working with Nabtesco, a company with more than 40 years of experience in high-precision gears and drive solutions. The RDS-C Link shows what’s possible when precision mechanics and advanced position sensing come together, and we look forward to seeing it unveiled at SPS.”
The collaboration brings together Nabtesco’s gearbox expertise and FLUX’s encoder technology in a solution designed for applications with demanding positioning requirements.
