Recyclable Wet Wipe Packaging Developed Through Industry Collaboration

Amcor and Fedrigoni Unveil Fully Recyclable Wet Wipe Packaging

Global packaging leaders Amcor and Fedrigoni have partnered to develop a fully recyclable flexible packaging solution for wet wipes, aligning with the EU’s upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)

The new design combines Amcor’s AmPrima Plus mono-material flow wrap with Fedrigoni’s semi-rigid label, both recyclable in polyethylene (PE) streams across Europe. Certified by RecyClass and cyclos-HTP, the packaging meets the EU’s 2030 recyclability goals.

This innovation not only simplifies recycling but also reduces environmental impact. It is up to 15% lighter than traditional multi-material packaging and cuts the carbon footprint by as much as 55%. Additionally, brands could benefit from up to a 35% reduction in extended producer responsibility fees.

The AmPrima Plus wrap supports post-consumer recycled content, helping brands meet future requirements for recycled plastic usage. This initiative supports both companies’ commitments to sustainability and regulatory compliance.
