Bangladesh’s largest international apparel exhibition, BATEXPO 2026, will take place on 18–19 November 2026 at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Conference Center. The Silver Jubilee Edition, with PDS Limited as title sponsor, will feature the Sustainability Leadership (TSL) Award, recognising contributions to sustainability, technological innovation and other key areas of the apparel industry.

BATEXPO 2026 to Feature Sustainability Leadership Awards
The Sustainability Leadership (TSL) Award will be presented by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) through the Germany-based international development organisation GIZ’s STILE II project. The initiative is supported by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Bangladesh’s Ministry of Commerce.
A total of 12 initiatives across four award categories will be recognised. The Minister of Environment and Climate Change has consented to attend the event as Chief Guest and present the awards to the winners.
Winners will be honoured at three levels: Platinum, Gold and Silver.
Four Categories to Recognise Industry Initiatives
The TSL Award 2026 will cover the following categories:
1. People First: Recognises worker welfare, model factories, women in leadership and community champions.
2. Planet Positive: Includes Sustainability Leader of the Year, Water Guardian and Circular Textile Pioneer.
3. Next Frontier: Covers Business Innovator of the Year, Future-Ready Award and Worker-Centric Innovation.
4. Rising Strength: Recognises Small Factory Big Impact, Resourceful Innovation and Growing Responsibly Award, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
BGMEA Highlights Sustainability and Competitiveness
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said, “Our factories are setting remarkable examples in greening and innovation to meet the evolving demands of the global apparel industry. The Sustainability Leadership Award will highlight the contributions of visionary entrepreneurs and factories at both national and international levels, strengthening the sector’s competitiveness.”
Dr. Michael Klode, Project Manager of GIZ Bangladesh’s Sustainability in the Textile and Leather Industries (STILE/STILE II) project, said the organisation was pleased to continue its partnership with BGMEA through the award.
He referred to previous collaborations, including the Social and Environmental Excellence Awards in 2012 and 2014, and the TSL Award in 2022. According to Klode, the initiative recognises factories demonstrating leadership and innovation in environmental sustainability, social responsibility and environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
He added that the award is expected to expand sustainability practices and strengthen Bangladesh’s apparel sector as a responsible, resilient and globally competitive industry.
Bangladesh Brand Forum Emphasises Responsible Manufacturing
Shariful Islam, Founder and Managing Director of Bangladesh Brand Forum, highlighted the importance of sustainability to the industry’s future.
“Sustainability is not a luxury or borrowed trend for us; it is a condition for survival. Our apparel industry, built on the hard work of millions of workers — many of them women — has become the backbone of the economy. As the country enters a new era of global competition, the TSL Award honors visionary factories that see responsibility to people and the planet as a symbol of national pride. When they lead, ‘Made in Bangladesh’ becomes more than a label — it becomes a promise.”
