Heimtextil 2027 Strengthens Global Textile Sourcing and Design

New premium carpet segments, textile trends and functional material showcases will connect international buyers, manufacturers and interior design professionals in Frankfurt.

Heimtextil 2027 will focus on textile quality, product performance and global sourcing as the home and contract textiles market faces growing challenges. Taking place from 12 to 15 January 2027 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the trade fair will introduce new offerings, including Carpets & Rugs Excellence, Comfort & Connect and the Heimtextil Trends 27/28. Around 2,900 exhibitors are expected to participate, maintaining the event’s level from the previous year.

Heimtextil Responds to Changing Market Needs

Home textile buyers are paying closer attention to price, quality, functionality and durability. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty is making international supply chains more difficult to plan.

Buyers and interior planners need products that perform reliably and suppliers who can deliver the agreed quality and volumes. Heimtextil 2027 aims to address these needs by bringing together manufacturers, designers and sourcing professionals across the textile value chain.

“In a market that is increasingly difficult to predict, quality, reliability and strong personal relationships matter. At Heimtextil, trade visitors experience materials first-hand, discuss their requirements directly with manufacturers and find production partners capable of delivering the volumes they need. This combination of product experience, an international offering and personal exchange makes Heimtextil a reliable strategic partner for the industry – especially in a challenging market,” says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.

Heimtextil Trends 27/28 Explore Textile Performance and Comfort

Under the theme “Home-Maxxing – The Performance of Everyday Living,” Heimtextil and Milan-based design platform Alcova will explore how interior spaces can become more functional without increasing demands on their users.

The Heimtextil Trends 27/28 present three approaches to textile and surface design:

  • Staged Competence: Uses codes, numbers and micrographics to make technical performance and durability part of a product’s appearance.
  • Inside, Out: Makes product construction and technology easier to understand through visible seams, straps, zips and replaceable covers.
  • Hyper Presence: Focuses on tactile experiences through natural fibres, rough surfaces, folds and patina, offering a contrast to digital overstimulation.

These trends will provide direction for retailers, designers and manufacturers developing future textile collections, products and interiors.

Architect and designer Patricia Urquiola will also contribute her own pieces to the Trends presentation. Her work will include new designs and further developments of earlier ideas. With Alcova curating the presentation and Urquiola adding her design perspective, Heimtextil will bring together established design expertise from Milan.

In partnership with Future Fabrics Expo, founded by Nina Marenzi, the fair will introduce the Functional Futures Lab in Hall 4.1. The showcase will feature innovative materials and design solutions for future spaces, with a focus on functionality and performance.

The accompanying programme will include talks and guided tours at the Talk Spot. These activities will highlight potential applications and help visitors connect with relevant exhibitors and project partners.

Buyers, product developers and creatives will be able to examine colours, scales and textures first-hand, select designs for upcoming collections and connect directly with designers.

The New Talent Area, curated in cooperation with Jennifer Castoldi of Trendease, will enter its second year with more than 30 talents already confirmed. The area will showcase new design approaches, materials and sustainability-focused ideas from emerging designers.

Global Home Connects Buyers with International Manufacturers
