The association signs cooperation agreements with Indonesia’s AGTI and the Textile Association of Badlapur to support technology exchange, skills development and industry collaboration.
The Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (ITAMMA) held its 83rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its registered office on 19 September 2026. The meeting also featured virtual participation from Indonesia and the signing of cooperation agreements focused on textile industry development.
ITAMMA President Omprakash Mantry welcomed representatives from the Indonesian Garment and Textile Association (AGTI), the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia. Shiv Kanodia, President of the Textile Association of Badlapur (TAB), attended the AGM physically.
ITAMMA Highlights Textile Machinery Market Trends
Addressing the AGM, Omprakash Mantry reviewed developments in India’s economic and manufacturing environment.
He noted that the growth of the textile machinery and accessories sector is closely linked to manufacturing investment, industrial production and global trade. He also highlighted automation, supply chain diversification and sustainable production technologies as key factors shaping the textile machinery industry.
Mantry thanked former presidents, trustees and governors, members of the managing committee and the ITAMMA directorate team for their support during the year.
He also acknowledged the support extended by India ITME Society, TMMA, SIMA and government bodies including MSME, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Heavy Industries.
ITAMMA and AGTI Sign Cooperation MoU
A key development at the AGM was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ITAMMA and the Indonesian Garment and Textile Association (AGTI).
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between India and Indonesia in the garment and textile sector. It covers knowledge sharing, technology exchange, capacity building, research and institutional collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Rizal Tanzil Rakhman, Secretary General, AGTI, and Omprakash Mantry, President (2026/27), ITAMMA.
Areas Covered Under the MoU
The agreement includes several areas of cooperation.
Research and Development
The two organisations will explore:
- Joint research in textile engineering and related fields
- Innovation and technology development
- Potential R&D centres and Centres of Excellence
Textile Machinery and Technology
The cooperation also covers:
- Evaluation of textile machinery, components and accessories
- Technology exchange and sharing of industry practices
- Emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence
Training and Skills Development
Training cooperation will focus on:
- Students, technicians and entrepreneurs
- Curriculum development
- Trainer capacity building
- Vocational training facilities and BLKs
Knowledge Sharing and Industry Engagement
The organisations intend to facilitate:
- International conferences
- Workshops
- Expert exchanges
- Knowledge sharing on textile technology and industry developments
Bilateral Engagement and Study Visits
The MoU also provides scope for:
- Delegation visits between India and Indonesia
- Industrial study visits
- Policy dialogue
- Engagement with government institutions and industry associations
- Textile supply chain integration
The parties also intend to explore cooperation in areas such as vocational training centres, after-sales service centres and R&D facilities in Indonesia.
Cooperation With Textile Association of Badlapur
A second MoU was signed between ITAMMA and the Textile Association of Badlapur (TAB).
The agreement was signed by Shiv Kanodia, President of TAB, and Omprakash Mantry, President (2026/27), ITAMMA.
Addressing the gathering, Kanodia highlighted TAB’s efforts in obtaining a court order concerning taxation of industries in MIDC areas by local municipalities, MIDC and other authorities.
ITAMMA Releases 83rd Annual Report
During the AGM, ITAMMA also released its 83rd Annual Report.
This was followed by a presentation from N. D. Mhatre, Director General (Tech), ITAMMA, covering the association’s activities during 2025/26.
The presentation provided an overview of ITAMMA’s work and activities during the reporting year.
Indonesian Industry Representatives Address AGM
The AGM also included addresses from representatives of Indonesia.
Ade Sudrajat Usman, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AGTI, spoke on the current situation and future outlook of Indonesia’s garment and textile industry.
Rizky Aditya Wijaya, Director of Textile, Leather and Footwear Industries (ITKAK), Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, was also scheduled to address the gathering.
Tony Agus Budiono, S. Pd, Deputy Chairman, Working Team for Measuring Industrial Sector Productivity Improvement, Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, also participated in the programme.
The AGM concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vishal Masand, Vice-President, ITAMMA.
The agreements signed during the AGM provide a framework for continued engagement between textile industry organisations in India and Indonesia, with cooperation spanning technology, machinery, training, research, study visits and knowledge exchange.
